This is 'almost' a fatass run. I call it an 'old school' ultra. No swag, no beer garden or live tracking. It is very difficult. Be sure to read the whole 'Book of Wisdom' before you decide to sign up for this.

Yes this is what people say in ultrarunning and there's truth to it. HOWEVER, this run is not meant to be ridiculously cruel or sadistic by any means. We realize out-and-back repeats are not everyone's favorite (back east they are quite common, we're so spoiled out here on the Best Coast) but please understand the opportunity this course presents:
1) Climbing, climbing and more climbing 
2) Quad-bashing descents 
3) Psychological training for continuing on course 

and 4) El Cajon Mountain and El Capitan Preserve are a sorely underlooked part of San Diego County. Its time that changed and we spotlight attention on this awesome corner of Southern California...

In short, with the El Cajon Mountain Ultramarathons, we want to make you a better runner. And more than that, we want to make you a better ultrarunner. We want to help you train for those mountain 50 milers and grueling 100 milers. Grit will only come from extreme situations and experience, and you can't teach grit, let alone sell it. What we can do is provide a platform, a canvas if you will, for you to discover the grit and spirit you had all along, you just didn't know it yet. 

Sign up on Ultrasignup. Fee is just to help pay for water & snacks. I will have a modest finisher's prize for all runners who make it to 33 miles. You can go back out again for 44 miles if you're under cutoff, thereby 'upgrading' to the 44 mile event. So even if you're not that fast, but really tough and determined, you've got a shot at catching podium....
